About the designer
At the age of 14, Sergio began to develop an interest in sketching fashion designs and mostly regarded it as a hobby. His friends took notice of his illustrations, and before he could even catch up to his natural talent, he was being sought out to design custom made dresses for different school events. In his sophmore year in college, he won a national contest funded by Teen People magazine. The prize landed him a trip to New York City where he collaborated with the creative director of Triple 5 Soul, a once ubiquitous streetwear label, to style Kiley Dean, a pop sensation groomed at the time by award-winning producer Timbaland. Sergio was featured on the cover of Teen People magazine along with Kiley Dean, solidifying his hobby as an exciting career in the making.
Wonder would go on to receive his Bachelors in Fine Arts from American Intercontinental University, studying Fashion Marketing & Design. It wasn’t until a chance meeting and conversation in 2008 with Valerie Hermann, who was at the helm of YSL at the time, that Wonder realized he had what it takes to make it in the Big Apple, where he had been hesitant to move. Hermann helped him understand that if he loved fashion, then he would be great at fashion, and if he was great at it then he’d have nothing to worry about after moving to the city.
In 2009, he moved to New York City and quickly added to a glowing track record of prestigious brands and labels under his belt, including Diesel, Ted Baker, J. Crew, and Michael Kors, working in a variety of capacities from styling to product development. Most recently, he has been appointed by Tommy Hilfiger's creative services team to complete projects as a showroom coordinator.
